Aydem Renewables, contributing to the sustainability of Türkiye with its biodiversity projects, has initiated the first study in Türkiye in Söke to determine the relationship between the wind power plants (WPP) and the efficiency in beehives.
Our company, which approaches the protection of nature as well as clean energy production with sensitivity, has added a new one to its biodiversity projects. With the "Project on Monitoring and Supporting of Apiculture (Beekeeping) Activities", our company has provided theoretical and practical training to the beekeepers in Söke-Aydın in cooperation with Düzce University Apiculture Research Development and Application Center (DAGEM). Within the scope of the project, our company has also initiated a first-of-its-kind study in Türkiye to investigate the relationship between the wind power plants and the efficiency in beehives.
Stating that as a company, we prioritize protecting the balance of nature and contributing to the biodiversity of our country, Aydem Renewables General Manager Ömer Fatih Keha said, "With our responsible energy production understanding and approach, we meticulously carry out our efforts to contribute to the clean energy supply and sustainable future of our country. We take important steps to protect the natural ecosystems and increase biodiversity with our biodiversity projects, especially in our power plant regions where we generate energy. We take care to increase the effectiveness of our biodiversity projects with the participation and support of the local community, with whom we are always in contact. We aim to contribute to the scientific studies by investigating the link between the wind power plant and the performance of the bee colonies within the scope of the ‘Project on Monitoring and Supporting of Apiculture (Beekeeping) Activities', which we have put into practice in Söke, for the first time in Türkiye. With our new project, which we have launched at our Söke Wind Power Plant in cooperation with DAGEM, we are examining the productivity of the beehives and providing trainings to the local people in order to popularize and develop apiculture (beekeeping). By placing the bee colonies under the turbines located in the Söke WPP site, the effect on the performance of hives at lower altitudes shall be examined. The data obtained from the colonies, which shall be kept under observation throughout the beekeeping season, will shed light on the interaction between WPPs and colony performances. Besides, it shall also form the basis of a more comprehensive scientific study for the following season. As the pioneer and leader company of Türkiye in renewable energy, we shall continue to reflect our understanding of social and
